Ephesians 1:1-6
“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,  having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”

Looking at this Scripture, how many times in the past have you wondered whether or not you are accepted – whether in a certain group of students, co-workers, family, or friends? Some would ask, even in a significant relationship, “Does this person really love me?”
Here, Paul calls us, “saints”, who are in Christ Jesus. Not only this, but he calls us who believe and put our faith in Christ, “sons” of God. And finally, Paul calls us accepted in the Beloved, which I want to focus on today. The greek word for “Beloved” is agapaō, which literally means one upon whom is placed unconditional, or faithful love and favor.
Did you realize that God has that same love for you – That He has put His unconditional, or faithful love and favor upon you? As it says here in these verses, HE CHOSE YOU, and that before the world was even begun. He set His love – His unconditional and faithful love and favor upon you – long before you ever even existed. He prepared this world for you, designed it for your enjoyment and to bring you into an experience of His love for you.
Having this love for you before you ever came to be, He designed this world in order for you to experience it as His child – fully loved, and highly favored. It says He took great pleasure in bringing you into His family through Christ’s death and resurrection. As Christ paid the price of death for all of your sins – past, present, and future –  He bought you back to Himself, by His very own blood, from the hand of the devil.
You no longer belong to anyone but God from here on out – to all eternity. This means that you BELONG TO GOD. You ARE ACCEPTED BY GOD INTO HIS FAMILY. You ARE HIS CHILD. You BELONG IN GOD’s FAMILY. You BRING GOD PLEASURE. HE LOVES YOU. Let these thoughts sink into your spirit, repeating these same things out loud meaningfully until they click. For example, say, “I BELONG TO GOD!” “I AM ACCEPTED BY GOD INTO HIS FAMILY!” “I AM GOD’S CHILD!” (SON or DAUGHTER to personalize it) “I BELONG TO AND IN GOD’S FAMILY!” “I AM A CHILD OF GOD!” “I BRING PLEASURE TO GOD!” “HE LOVES ME!”
Go ahead and spend some time in prayer, thanking God for making you belong. Give Him praise for His plans to bring you into His family without reservations or conditions. Talk with Him today and learn even more from Him about who you are in Him, in Christ.

India Update 2012 #6

Praise the Lord!
Blessings for Tata and Ammachi Anniversary
The Lord has given me a month of refreshing, physically and spiritually. The kids at both the School and Kids’ Home were on their summer break, known as “holiday” around here. So the Lord gave us the opportunity to go to a little bit cooler of a place (us meaning Solomon’s family and myself). The name of the place was Yercaud. It’s a mountain area (kind of like Big Bear for you southern California folks), where there was a lake, beautiful nature scenes, and my favorite plant… Coffee! In this holiday month, the Lord allowed and empowered Solomon and I to do some house visits and pray with people, go to a few events like birthdays and a puberty function, and prepare the school for “re-habitation”.
She cried almost all the first day
As school has now started back up, we’ve seen the Lord provide for the teachers’ salary, books for the kids, and He’s thankfully provided the children in abundance as well (as a new school started in the same area). The first day about 5 little ones (preschoolers around the age of 3-4) cried… and cried… and cried some more. A few weeks in now, they are absolutely fine. Praise God we now have enough books and seating equipment for the students, although there are still a few more students that have joined. The second Friday we had the weekly “chapel” where the students get a small assembly(with songs, and the Word of God). The message was regarding Jacob and how he received a new name as He believed God (while wrestling with Him). In relation to Jesus giving us a new name, many students raised their hands to receive Him and the new name He gives us – Christian, or God’s child. So praise God for His gospel going forth!
Vignesh - a new addition to the orphanage
The Lord helped the boys from the kids’ home all enjoy the week or two with their families during the holiday. All the boys got to go home to either parent, or to their extended families. They are back now and have started school again. There are some new boys, including boys by the name of Arjun, Selvakumar, and Vignesh, along with some others. God has blessed us all with me being able to come back and stay with them during the week at the kids’ home. Praise God for getting to go back, and the new faces we are seeing there! One of the things that breaks my heart is that some of the boys take the transition really rough, sometimes not receiving the transition to the home at all. And because of sadness, some have gone back home, missing out on the blessings God would have for them there – every boy I’ve met has met God at this orphanage and had their life changed in some way. Some have gone on to be pastors, and some have been well equipped to succeed in college and secular jobs as well – all because of God working in their lives through this orphanage. So please pray for those that went back home instead of staying.

The church is also back in action, as some people were on “holiday” from the church as well. But God has even brought new faces into the congregation and is beginning His transformational work in their lives as well. He has been re-working prayer into the leadership, congregation and into my life as well, using a local pastor to teach the body how to pray – even late into the night/early morning. The Lord has begun the church leadership “program” and is raising even the current leaders to a new level of service to Himself. We look forward to the fruit that God will produce as people commit their lives to Him in a new way. So praise God for His grace!

So it’s been a great and refreshing month. I thank you for all of your prayers and contributions in every way. God has been using you to encourage me in many ways. Praise our King Jesus! If you can join with me in giving thanks for the following, that would be greatly appreciated.
Praise Reports:
1.       The Lord has begun to answer the prayer requests from my last update.
2.       The Lord provided an opportunity to vacation in a cool place with Solomon and his family.

India Update 2012 #5

Praise the Lord!
As a new month begins, I am thankful for the last one. So many opportunities to see God move on my behalf and the people here in India as well. Just after the pastors’ conference last month, the Lord brought some more visitors – my friends Mark and Joy, with their team from San Diego. There were 4 different Vacation Bible Schools that the Lord allowed me to be a part of, and see Him do great things. And in all of this, the Lord has brought me refreshment in the Spirit. So it’s been a great month, Praise Jesus!
My friends Mark and Joy came with a team for an outreach near a place known as “Temple City”. About 17 people came to reach out and they ended up seeing God move powerfully as they told people about Jesus. The Lord gave me the opportunity to help them be refreshed by arranging a hotel for them here in Chennai. The Lord blessed me with fellowship and testimonies of His grace during that time. I was so privileged to share some time with them. I thank God for the time I got to spend with the team, but especially Mark and Joy. They were the first people I’d met here in India back in 2005. Praise God for friendships and His family He connects us with! So after a few days, I was sad to see them off, but glad to know they will come back for our Father’s harvest later this year!

Giving the gospel
Just after that visit, we had our first of four different Vacation Bible Schools (VBS). It was out at the orphanage/school location - Ponmar. The first day we had a couple come and show us how they do youth outreach, which entailed me dressing up in a rooster costume. The last day, the Lord gave me the opportunity to give the good news of Jesus. Besides the kids all raising their hands, there was at least one adult that received our Lord as well. The second VBS was here in Pammal. Here the kids spent 6 days memorizing Scripture, coloring drawings, and learning various lessons about God. The Lord gave me the responsibility for drawing some of the coloring pages, leading the older students one day (speaking about faith, using Joshua and the battle of Jericho), helping get and give gifts and snacks to the students, and even trying my hand (literally) at ventriloquism. Next was our VBS out on Irrukam Island, Andhra Pradesh. Here we went across on a boat, and got to present the good news again, along with giving the students a small gift on the last day for attending all week. Two days later, we went to a small village outside of Chennai called Pakkam. As we were there the Lord gave me an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus once again. As I finished, the Lord saved a number of people, as well as healing some others from the village – using our entire team! Praise the Lord Jesus!

As the Lord has laid me on your heart, to pray and encourage me, I have been refreshed. The Lord has given me the opportunity to share at Solomon’s father’s church, and I saw God move powerfully on their behalf as well. This has all happened because as You’ve prayed for me, God has been increasing my prayer life. He’s been helping me each day through His word, both in my quiet times and in downloaded messages off the internet. I thank God for His refreshing, as that was the main thing I kept telling the pastors we’d invited to the pastors’ conference – that God would bring them refreshing. So it didn’t just happen for them, The Lord brought me His refreshing as well! Praise Jesus!

So it has truly been a great month! I thank you for Your involvement through prayers and support in every way. You are a great encouragement to me, and are appreciated! Please take a moment and thank God for the great things He has done here both for the people here in India, and myself. Some of these would include:
1.       Fellowship from my friends and the team from San Diego
2.       God moving in Power: Saving, healing, setting people free, and delivering others
3.       The kids in Ponmar, Pammal, Irrukam, and Pakkam learned about Jesus
4.       Solomon’s dad’s church well received the word the Lord had for them
5.       I have been refreshed by the Lord through His Spirit
6.       The Lord has brought in $855 total of the $6000 for my next trip
7.       He has been continually helping me where I need it most
Along with these thanksgivings, please pray with me for the following:
Crowd in Pakkam
Pakkam VBS host on right
1.       The people here at Lighthouse Gospel and myself to grow in love with and for God
2.       That we will live out His Word by loving others
3.       That God will empower us with His Holy Spirit to carry out His work
4.       The marriages in the church and family ties to be strengthened
5.       That God would give me clarity in the direction I am to step next while on this trip
6.       That my physical and spiritual family at home would grow in His love
7.       For me to continually walk in and experience God’s love personally, that I may know Him more.
Thank you for your prayers. I know the Lord has used your prayers over the last month to bring me out of the “valley” I was in. Praise God He uses those to help me appreciate the times that I have the “mountain top” experiences. And He uses prayer and the word as the path for ascension. So thank you for your prayers for me. You are truly a blessing!

God bless you!

April 2012 update

Praise the Lord! Over the last month, God has been doing so much in my life, both inward and outward. In my personal life, He has been digging deep into core issues of my life to bring change in my relationship with Him. In my interpersonal life, He has been doing the same, bringing me closer to those around me. In serving Him, He has been working on my behalf in others' lives.

In my personal life, as I said, the Lord has been graciously digging into areas of my heart, such as pride of my own abilities. As I went to the beach one day, with some pastors from the U.S., I thought that I had no need for wearing sandals. It turned out that I did need them, after showing the blisters on the bottom of my feet to them. It was then that I told them, you can start calling me “tenderfoot” - which had more than a meaning for the blisters alone, but for my service here abroad also. He has been revealing areas where I have become judgmental toward others, and is still working that one out as needed, that His grace and compassion can come instead. The Lord has also been speaking to me in my quiet times, and drawing me closer to Himself, giving me good “nuggets” to chew on throughout each day.

In my interpersonal life, He has been working to draw me closer to those around me, even if they are only here for a short time. Last month we had a visitor from Australia, who was here for a short time on my last trip as well. The first day we had an argument over whether a cat would be allowed inside the pastor's house or not. I struggled for a few days to get over that, and asked the Lord to help me love her the way she needed it. Although there were a few disruptions to peace after that, by the end of the trip, she told me she'd felt like we'd become good friends. So praise God for His love being received! At times, as I've gotten a little prideful in the way things are accomplished back home, the Lord has come in to humble me in those circumstances as well. I have been learning a little about mutual submission in the fear of God. Many times I have had to give up or let go of my own thinking to embrace how things go here. Getting to drive some of the vehicles helps with this, as I definitely have to let go of rigid driving rules and regulations from the states when I do. But still, God has been faithful to build my relationships here, with the nationals, and with people internationally. As we have had visitors from both Australia and the U.S., it is an honor and priviledge to have visited with them and learned things from them as well, both natural wisdom and spiritual wisdom. I thank God for Jean and Paul from Australia, and Rob and Danny from the U.S. (who came to visit for the pastors' conference).

Pastor Danny
Pastor Rob
As far as reaching out is concerned, serving God this last month here has been a lot of fun. In church I have seen Him move powerfully on others' behalf, bringing healing to physical bodies, as well as relationships, as one couple from the church is learning how to care for one another through prayer. In one instance, Shanti was healed by the Lord through her own husband, as she submitted to his authority, and he submitted to Christ's authority to heal her. It was such a blessing to see Sam pray for Shanti and encouraging to see God heal her physical body in that prayer. In the orphanage we saw Jesus work in Kumar the cook's life. As he has struggled being there, one night he wanted to quit and walk out. Yet the Lord worked on his heart and he's still there – looking a lot happier as well! Praise God! At the pastor's conference the Lord equipped the pastors to build their congregations in powerful evangelism. At night as there was a 75-year celebration of the church building's existence, God moved in power there as well. He brought many people to salvation through messages of the gospel and healed people as well, helping them come to Him alone for their needs! In these conferences and outreaches, my main goal was to bless the visiting pastors, and help them feel welcomed. Of which, Danny(one of the pastors) wrote that I was a blessing, so I praise God for His work!

I am thankful to the Lord for His grace and activity in my life, working both inward and outward. I am thankful for His transformational power at work in me, improving my image of Him, as He improves my image in Christ. I am thankful He is teaching me both how to give His love to others, and how to receive it from them as well. And I am thankful to have the opportunity to be here in His service, seeing Him move powerfully and love on others Himself. Lastly, though not of last importance, I am thankful for you. Without you listening, hearing and responding to God, I wouldn't be here. I am thankful for every prayer you have prayed, every email, phone call, facebook posting, and cent you have given toward me being able to serve our Lord Jesus here in India. I pray you are blessed and receive fruit not only in heaven but also here on earth as well, for all of your contributions to the work here.

Below are some of the results of your supplication(s) last month, as well as prayer needs for this coming month.

Praise reports:
  1. The pastors'conference was a huge blessing to the pastors as well as myself
  2. God supplied all of the finances, support, volunteers, and attendees to make it successful
  3. People were healed, saved, and delivered at Solomon's dad's church who had their 75th anniversary celebration with outreaches at night
  4. I am being blessed by getting to meet new people and see others I've known from here and from the U.S.
  5. I have received $205 dollars out of $6000 for my next trip
Prayer requests:
  1. Refreshment and renewal for myself, Solomon and family, and the believers here at Lighthouse
  2. Kids who come to VBS to receive all that God has for them, in Ponmar and then in Pammal
  3. Pastors who attended the conference to use the tools they were given to bless and reach out for the Kingdom of God
  4. Finances for next trip to come in

Once again thank you for all you do!

God bless you!

Praise the Lord! Thanks for taking the time to peruse my update and hear what the Lord has been up to in my life! I pray you are blessed, encouraged and exhorted as you read!
The Lord prepared me to leave India on December 12, 2011, by being blessed through the boys, church body, and Solomon's family. By the 13
th of December, I was back in the states (praise God for the international Dateline in the Pacific), greeted by my mom at LAX. Now that I am back in Blythe with family, God has been preparing me to leave again to Chennai, on February 14, 2012.
As the Lord prepared me to leave India, He gave me the opportunities to give the kids birthday gifts, be blessed with a “good-bye night” by the church, and have time with Solomon and family. The kids were blessed by my home church, Blythe Foursquare, who sent a package with 3 footballs (signed by a former Dallas Cowboy), 2 soccer balls, and a multi-purpose ball (like the ones used for dodgeball). The Lord also provided the boys with swimming shorts, bibles, mechanical pencils, and some personal hygene products. These all were given as a series of gifts, instead of all at once, so we had time to play some American football (as they call soccer, “football” there), swim with their new shorts, and play dodgeball right before I left the orphanage for the last time on that trip. The Lord also blessed me before I left by giving me one last time to preach, then a night service dedicated to testimonies by the church body of what God did in them while I was there (all accompanied by a song of the respective testifiers). Then Solomon took me to the airport on Monday evening the 12th, accompanied by Sam & Shanti – some staff at the church. It was a bitter-sweet departure, as I was sad to leave them all, but happy to come back home for a time as well. I thank God for my brothers and sisters I got to meet there.
I arrived on the 13
th of December into Los Angeles and walked through customs, only to see my mom almost climbing over the wall (a slight exaggeration). So we stayed in L.A. For two nights, then came back home to visit family and friends. Christmas went well, as I got to make biryani, my favorite Indian dish, and see family. As I've hung out at Starbucks to use the internet, I've been blessed getting to see my former co-workers there, as well as friends that have encouraged me over the last six months while in India. I currently am helping out at home, doing some yard work and painting my room (giving it an “adult upgrade”, as it was last painted in 1994-ish), so that my mom can have family or friends over to stay the night and not feel like they're in a kids' room. I am also getting to help out at church here, wherever needed, including getting to speak with the youth at times. The “re-entry process” (adjusting back to U.S. Home life) has been great and super smooth so far, praise God! He's also been giving me times to share what He did on my trip at my church here, a church in Bullhead City, and a few other places as well.
And now I am in another season of preparation. As I called Solomon and his family on Christmas Day, the Lord had him invite me back again. This time I believe we are going to try and start an English congregation at his church there. I still have documents that are being reviewed, proposals for this next trip, and logistics to work through while here in preparation for my departure on February 14
th. I still need a number of things, including support through prayer, encouragements, and finances (still around $3000). Praise God my ticket was almost half of the cost from last time, and I had some finances still in my account that came in while I was gone! Thank You Jesus!
The Lord blessed my trip, He's been working while I've been back in the States, and now He's opened the doors to go back, and help Solomon out again! Thanks Lord! So I pray you are encouraged! Your support has helped the Lord do many things in the kids' lives there, the church body there, Solomon(and his family)'s lives, and in my own life over the last six months. And I thank God for you and all the ways you have supported me, whether through prayer, encouragements, financially, and anything I've missed besides that. You are truly a blessing from the Lord!
If you would like to continue to pray, please thank our Lord, Jesus Christ, for the following:

b. Had a safe trip back to the states.
c. Being blessed by fellowship here in Blythe and online
d. Invited to go back in February
e. Have nearly half of my support in already
f. Having get-togethers to share about the trip, and fundraisers planned

God bless you!

Preparation to prepare

India Update 6 – Preparation to prepare
“Stotirum!” or “Praise the Lord!”
This month has gone by so fast, and some of this month’s updates were in the last update, so I pray that you are still blessed and encouraged by the Lord’s work here!
God’s still giving me the opportunity to share at the church, and I’m thankful for learning more about Him by doing so. He’s given me so much grace. This last weekend, He had me share on Galatians 5:13-26, regarding what most would consider “the fruit of the Spirit”. It was neat to see Him touch people’s hearts and lives, encouraging them to step out in faith and seek God more. The pastor seemed to have people tell Him they were impacted. So praise God! Also this month, the body began home fellowships, going to four different places in the local area, concluding with being back at the church this month for the 1st of the month prayer service(they do it each month). As we move into December, I’m excited for one couple, who were diagnosed with AIDS, but God has been working in them to bring them to Himself. They only come on the first of the month because of the distance and costs to come, but have a church they go to near their home too. The first Sunday in December, I am praying we get to baptize them, as has been their desire the whole time I’ve been here, and even got to explain it to them one Sunday. So please pray they come and receive their baptism in water, but even more importantly in the Holy Spirit!
The orphanage and school have been going well, as the boys finally got moved in completely! The bathrooms were finished, and now they live in the new building, Praise God! So thank you for your prayers! The last testing period, one of the younger boys, Sanjay, got low scores in English and English reading. So God gave me the opportunity to work with him one on one to improve. And by the grace of God, he got all 90’s on the tests he just took! And because of the boys moving in to the new building, by next month he will be in the old living space as his new classroom! The boys cleaned up and painted the rooms fresh, that the building could be used entirely as a classroom, so it’s exciting because they may have a new grade level introduced next school year!
As God is preparing me to leave, I’ve been saddened with having to leave my new friends and family here, although happy to visit back home again. God has blessed me with gifts that I didn’t expect, even physically, as Solomon’s family gave me an outfit known here by the name “safari”. I’m super thankful for their generosity, and even more by being able to be with them for this last six months. But I’m not the only one receiving gifts from the Lord. The boys at the orphanage are getting blessed by my church family at home. They sent some soccer balls, footballs(which I will teach them how to play), and a dodge ball, like from schooling days (Praise God I’ll get to teach them how to play that too!). God is also providing through them to get personal bibles for the boys, to take home when they go, along with mechanical pencils and some swimming shorts. They tend to be mesmerized by the mechanical pencils, and the shorts to have something besides underwear to swim in. I fly out from Chennai on the 12th, and arrive back in the states on the 13th. Please pray for a great and safe journey home, with a good debriefing and outreach on the way.
Along with the prayers aforementioned, please pray for the following:
-          Solomon and Clara, and their family – that God would continue to be their strength and rest, keeping them healthy, as there has been much work going on here toward their work for the Kingdom.
-          The children at the orphanage and school – That God would continue to do His work in their hearts, and win them with their families to Christ.
-          The congregation here – that more people would sense and know God’s calling on their lives, and any hindrances be broken/left behind to fulfill His calling
-          The people here in India – that God would continue to remove the blinders Satan has placed on them, so they will see the light of His glorious gospel before Jesus returns and it’s too late.
-          The team to come here from New Mexico in late December – that God would use them powerfully to reach out in the community here locally, and in the city the orphanage is.
Thanks for all of your prayers and support. They mean so much to me, as I can tell people are praying for me and these needs, as the spiritual attack weakens in those times. You are such a blessing, and I pray you get even more blessed as you have sown here in Jesus’ name. May your fruit abound even more through those seeds you have sown into everyone here. God bless you!
Blessings!
Justin

Merry Christmas!
